Rating System
G - GENERAL AUDIENCES
These plays are suitable for all ages. While they may contain some interpersonal drama, it is no of the of the nature that would be overly disturbing for children. These aren't necessarily children's theatre; it's just that any age can watch.
PG - PARENT GUIDANCE SUGGESTED
This means that parental guidance is suggested for very young children. As these plays may not be suitable for children under age 10. Parents may want to give parental guidance to them, as some material contains unsuitable content that parents may not like for their young children. There will be no strong profanity or sexual content.
PG-13 - PARENT GUIDANCE RECOMMENDED
This means that parents are strongly advised to give parental guidance for their children under 13. However, children 12 and under can access such material becasue it is an advisory rating. These plays may contain some profanity, sexual innuendo or casual alcohol use. Check the advisory box for the individual play.
MA - 14 - PARENT STRONGLY CAUTIONED
No one under 14 is allowed to attend unless accompanied by a parent. While our first three ratings are taken from the motion picture industry, the MA-14 rating is in line with the television industry's TV-14 rating. "This program (play) may contain one or more of the following: intensely suggestive dialogue (D), strong coarse language (L), intense sexual situations (S) or intense violence (V)." While the TV-14 rating is seen as a guideline and "Parents are strongly cautioned," we take a stricter view and do not advertise to middle schools or allow middle school students to attend without a parent. Students are expected to show a student ID at the door.
